Here are some pictures I took in my town on 2009 New Year's Eve.
In every quarter of the town people build tall puppets representing the year about to end. These puppets are exposed in the streets on New Year's Eve and then burnt at midnight with great celebration. In the tradition the puppet is depicted as an old man, but the fantasy of the craftsmen may also refer to contemporary models, sometimes with satirical purpose.
